Dr. Joseph G. Chiafair grew up on Long Island, NY. He is a 1973 graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his DDS and MS degrees from New York University in 1979. From 1979 to 1981, Dr. Chiafair was involved in oral & maxillofacial surgery at the Jacksonville Health Education program. He worked as an associate of a private practice from '81 to '83, and started Baymeadows Family Dentistry in 1984. In 2015, we expanded to Ponte Verda Dental.
Dr. Chiafair is a member of several notable associations, including the American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and the Jacksonville Dental Society. In addition, Dr. Chiafair provides service as hospital staff at St. Vincent's Southside and is a respected associate professor at the University of Florida.
In 1980, Dr. Chiafair became an ADA published author with his work titled Human Bites to the Face. He earned another publication in 1981, this time through the FDA, with his work Sliding Body Osteotomy of Mandible.
When not in the office, Dr. Chiafair enjoys golfing, boating, swimming, skeet shooting, and traveling.
